🔥 Ninja Woodfire Lasagna Bake (Tray Recipe)

🧄 Ingredients

👨‍🍳 For the meat sauce:

  • 500g beef mince (or half beef/half pork)
  • 1 onion, finely diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 400g tin chopped tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato purée
  • 1 beef stock cube
  • Salt & pepper
  • Optional: splash of red wine or a pinch of chilli flakes

🧀 For the cheese sauce:

  • 40g butter
  • 40g plain flour
  • 500ml whole milk
  • 100g mature cheddar or mozzarella (grated)
  • Pinch of nutmeg (optional)
  • Salt & pepper

🧱 To assemble:

  • 6–8 sheets dried lasagna (no-boil type works best)
  • Extra grated cheese (cheddar + mozzarella combo is ideal)
  • Olive oil for tray

🔧 Equipment

  • Ninja Woodfire-compatible metal tray (8x8" or similar)
  • Smoker pellets (optional – hickory or cherry wood works great)

🔥 Instructions

1.

Make the meat sauce

  • Sauté onion in oil until soft, add garlic.
  • Add mince, cook until browned.
  • Stir in oregano, tomato purée, chopped tomatoes, stock cube, and seasoning.
  • Simmer for 15–20 mins to thicken. Add a splash of water if needed.

2.

Make the cheese sauce

  • Melt butter in a saucepan, stir in flour.
  • Cook for 1 min, gradually whisk in milk until smooth.
  • Stir until thickened, then add cheese, season to taste.

3.

Assemble the lasagna

  • Lightly oil your tray.
  • Layer in order: meat → pasta → cheese sauce → repeat. Finish with sauce and cheese on top.

4.

Cook on the Ninja Woodfire Grill

  • Set to Bake or Air Roast mode at 180°C (356°F).
  • Optionally add smoke for the first 10 minutes.
  • Bake for 40–50 minutes until golden, bubbling, and pasta is soft when pierced.
